POST-TEST ANALYTICAL CAPABILITIES
Post-test analysis can be performed on extracted or residual solid/liquid materials. Capabilities available at the AESRF and affiliated university research laboratories:
- Proximate analysis for moisture, volatiles, fixed carbon and ash (TGA-based)
- Sulfur and carbon concentration, including carbon in ash (LECO SC832)
- Internal surface area and pore size distribution of solid materials (char, ash, fluidized bed particles) be BET porosimetry (Micromeretics TriStar III)
- Skeletal density by gas pycnometery (Micromeretics)
- Viscosity and surface tension of liquids and slurries (several instruments)
- Scanning electron microscopy including XRD analysis for element distribution (several instruments)
- XPS for crystal phases
